It was established on Ashwin 13, 2033 BS (1976 AD) and began production in 2042 BS (1985 AD). The factory has an annual production capacity of 2,600,000 metric tons of cement.

The establishment of HCIL was supported by the Asian Development Bank. Initially founded by the government in 2032 BS (1975 AD), the factory started its commercial production in 2043 BS (1986 AD). On a daily basis, it has been producing between 12,000 to 16,000 sacks of cement.

HCIL supplies its cement products to various cities across Nepal, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, and Biratnagar. The company has limestone mines located in Jogimara in Dhading, as well as Okhre and Bhainse of Makwanpur.

Hetauda Cement is renowned for its high-quality cement production and is recognized as one of the top cement producers in Nepal. The brand name associated with HCIL’s cement is “Shikti.”
